The role of the exploration geophysicist broadly covers the design and execution of exploration campaigns. As part of a large global team, you will have involvement in various projects both in the North Sea and further afield.

 

Your responsibilities will include undertaking quantitative geophysical work on both operated and non-operated exploration projects. For this position, you should have rock physics exposure as well as pre-stack interpretation and qualitative seismic interpretation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

* Ranking and analysis of exploration plays
* Purchasing and Acquisitions of geophysical data
* Commercial Evaluation of new prospects
* Designing, executing and contracting acquisition programmes and processing
* Analysis, ties existing well control (2 and 3D seismic)
* Interpreting and mapping seismic and well datas
* Creating seismic velocity models
* Recommendation of final drilling locations
* Producing risk assessments

To apply for this position, you areexpected to have the following credentials


* M.Sc. or above in Geophysics or Earth Sciences
* Ph.D. preferred but not essential
* Proven experience working as a geophysicist, preferably for an E&P operator in the Oil & Gas sector
* Atlantic margin experience is a preference
* Understanding of seismic attribute analysis, processing and AVO
* A proven background in the integration of geological and geophysical data
* Ability to create 'prospect scale' and 'basin scale' assessment
* Software applications including UNIX/ LINUX
